-
Features: this version includes more RAM memory, Flash memory but also a mini speaker, a microphone, a capacitive touch button and a more efficient CPU compared to V1.
It has, like its previous version, two push buttons, a 5x5 LED matrix, 22 pins including 3 analog, an accelerometer, a magnetometer and a Bluetooth 5.0 module.
-
Connectors: the side connector allows the card to be connected to sensors, actuators or other microprocessor cards ( Arduino , Raspberry , etc.).
The pins are at the bottom of the board:
- 3 analog inputs/outputs marked 0, 1 and 2 as well as pin 3 V and GND. These pins are easily accessible with banana plugs or alligator clips.
- the rest of the pins are not accessible as is and require the use of a specific connector (EDGE connector), present in particular on the various modules.
-
Programming: programming is done from a web browser in Block Editor for beginners or in MicroPython language for more experienced users.
The program is downloaded from the online IDE and is simply copied into the micro:bit as in a USB key ( micro-USB cord not included).
Bluetooth also allows programming from a smartphone or tablet via an iOS and Android application .
Programs in .HEX format created for the micro:bit V1 are fully compatible with this new version. The Makecode IDE converts them for compatibility with this V2.
